OF TERMS
Anti-theft Device - Anti-theft devices
are permanently installed on your vehicle to inhibit theft. Mechanical
devices such as steering wheel lock bars, shifter locks, and brake
pedal locks are NOT considered anti-theft devices for Insurance
rating purposes.
Bodily Injury Liability - This coverage
pays for injuries that you cause someone else when an accident is
your fault.
Collision Coverage - This coverage
pays for damage to your car resulting from a collision with another
car or object. Usually required by the Finance Co., if there is
an existing loan on the insured vehicle.
Comprehensive Coverage - This coverage
pays for damage to your car caused by something other than a collision,
such as theft, hail, flood, vandalism or contact with animals. Also
required by the Finance Co. If there is an existing loan on the
insured vehicle.
Deductible - Your deductible is the
out of pocket amount you would be required to pay in the event of
an insurance claim before your Insurance coverage kicks in.
Medical Payments - This coverage pays
for medical expenses for injuries sustained by you and other passengers
in your vehicle, regardless of who is at fault.
Property Damage Liability - This coverage
pays for damage caused by you to another person's property, such
as a fence or telephone pole.
Rental Reimbursement Coverage - This
coverage pays toward the expense of renting a vehicle if it becomes
inoperable due to an accident. This coverage is only available if
you have Comprehensive and Collision Coverage.
Special Equipment Coverage - This coverage
pays for items damaged or stolen that are not included under standard
insurance packages. This coverage is only available if you have
Comprehensive and Collision Coverage.
SR-22 Insurance - SR-22 Insurance is
required for a driver whose license has been suspended or revoked,
or who has been involved in an accident without any auto insurance
coverage at the time. SR-22 Insurance must be notify to the Department
of Motor Vehicles when your policy is purchased, terminated or lapses
for any reason.
Towing Coverage - This coverage provides
reimbursement to tow your vehicle or pay in case of a breakdown.
This coverage is only available if you have Comprehensive and Collision
Coverage.
Uninsured Motorist Coverage - This
coverage pays medical expenses for you and your passengers for bodily
injuries sustained as a result of an accident with a legally liable
uninsured motorist or a hit and run driver.
VIN - Your VIN (Vehicle Identification
Number) is a 17-digit alphanumeric code that identifies the make
and model of your vehicle. It provides information about safety
features that are standard on your vehicle, which can affect your
insurance premium.
